A Huncoat man did not die of CJD, despite fears from his family that his death was caused by the disease, an inquest heard.
Michael Walter Crossley, 62, died at Mapleford Nursing Home, Bolton Avenue, last July after battling dementia since 2000.
At an inquest in Blackburn his family said that there were fears that he was suffering from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease but a post mortem examination revealed that the retired caretaker had alzheimer's disease and Lewy Body dementia.
Coroner Michael Singleton returned a verdict of natural death.
