A MURDER investigation has been launched after two bodies, believed to be husband and wife, were found at a house.

Police were called to the address in Coltsfoot Drive, Chorley, at 2pm today by a neighbour.

The couple, who have not been named, were pronounced dead by paramdics at the scene.

Det Supt Mick Gradwell said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Police said they were unable to name the deceased as they were still trying to trace family members before a formal identification takes place.

A forensic examination of the scene has been conducted by Lancashire Police's major investigation team.

Mr Gradwell said: "It's being treated as a murder investigation. A man and a woman, believed to be husband and wife were found at the address.

"I am unable to say how either died until the post mortem examination has been carried out."

A post mortem examination was due to be carried out by a Home Office pathologist tomorrow morning to establish an exact cause of death.
