There was all of the glamour and none of the strops often associated with more famous catwalk models when youngsters strutted their stuff at a charity fashion show in Helston.

Taking place on the same day as the launch of this year's London Fashion Show, 30 pupils at Swallows Gymnastic Club showed all the grace and poise of their professional counterparts when they modelled clothes from a range of stores.

The event, hosted by Helston Community College, took place in aid of the gymnastic club and Helston-based aid charity ShelterBox, with the two organisations sharing the proceeds.

Over the course of the evening, the youngsters modelled outfits from Mackays of Helston, Aimhi-Sportwear, Moos Shoes and Grip Skate Shop. It was then the turn of the club's teenagers and some willing parents to take to the stage, in evening wear provided by Pam's People.

Natalie Keigher, who was one of the main organisers of the show, said: "We have had great support from local companies, the children and many parents and because of this we managed to raise in the region of £600 during the evening."

Special thanks were given to Steve Kimberley, of Helston and Lizard Rotary and Kimberley's Estates Agents, for his support during the evening and prior to the event, in getting the programmes printed. Thanks also went to the many parents who organised the children backstage on the night, sold raffle tickets and served drinks and food.

Finally, "huge thanks" went to Helston Community College for hosting the event and arranging the lights and sound systems for the evening.

Sue Annear, a parent of children who attend Swallows and who also helped organise the event, said: "We are so proud of all the children and adults that took part in this fashion show. They had a huge range of clothes to model and all of them looked great, from the youngest little girl who is only one to the mums in evening wear - they all looked fantastic.

"We have already been asked if we will be holding another show next year and certainly all those who came to watch reported that they had great fun watching the show and enjoyed this social event, so watch this space."
