Vodkat NW Counties previews
NICK Jackson-Cooney is confident his resurgent NELSON side can continue their fine run of form and move off the bottom of Division One.
The Blues registered their first back-to-back clean sheets of the season when they defeated Silsden AFC 1-0 on Bank Holiday Monday.
It followed a 0-0 draw with Congleton, and Jackson-Cooney is looking for another good result as Nelson travel to Maine Road tomorrow.
"I said we were looking for four points over Easter - and we got it," he said. "Before Congleton, we'd only had one clean sheet all season.
"So to get two clean sheets in the space of three days was fantastic.
"With those two results, it's as though a huge weight has been taken off the lads' shoulders. They are all working hard for each other.
"If we can get a third clean sheet, we'll all be ecstatic."
RAMSBOTTOM boss Neil Hart has set his side a 12-point target from their remaining five games.
The Riverside club host Formby tomorrow on the back of their 1-0 defeat to Salford City.
But despite losing to the high-fliers, Hart has been pleased with the way his side are playing.
He said: "I was delighted with our performance against Salford.
"From the first minute to the last, we completely dominated the game, especially in the first-half.
"Before the Atherton game, I gave the lads a target of getting 15 points from our last seven games.
"We've picked up three, so now we need four wins from our last five.
"If we can do that, it would be great, and then we can go into next season full of confidence."
DARWEN manager Dennis Hill is handing out more debuts in tomorrow's trip to Norton United as he goes about building a side for next season.
Former Padiham centre-back Matt Woods and ex-Leigh RMI man Sam Fairhurst are the newest recruits.
"I'm still trying different things out," said Hill. "I'm not really bothered about our results at the moment.
"It's all about getting to pre-season and putting together a squad I think is capable of taking Darwen into Division One."
Bacup entertain Atherton Collieries at West View, with manager Brent Peters hoping Steve Stott has recovered from an illness that prevented him from training earlier this week.
He said: "We think it was just a 24-hour bug and we've got our fingers crossed that he'll be fit for tomorrow."
David Luker is also a serious doubt with a groin injury.
PADIHAM club captain Stuart Telfer has left the club to join former boss Steve Wilkes at Runcorn.
Storks secretary Alan Smith said: "I'm disappointed that he's decided to leave us before the end of the season, but there's no hard feelings and we wish him all the best."
Padiham host high-flying New Mills tomorrow and Smith is expecting a tough match against the league leaders, who have scored 17 goals in their last three games, including a 9-0 drubbing of Holker.
He added: "They beat us 6-1 at the start of the season, so it would be good to take something from them."
Colne travel to struggling Atherton LR tomorrow.
