WEDNESDAY night is a good night to give the cooking stove a rest. A midweek break from peeling, chopping, cooking and washing up!
It’s also a good night to dine out at the Bay Horse in Worsthorne because Wednesday night is curry night.
For £5.95 you get the choice of a madras, balti, korma or tikka, with a nan bread, an onion bhaji and portion of rice PLUS a pint of beer, lager or cider or a glass of house wine. Now that's what I call a bargain.
And when we called Arsenal and Tottenham were on the big screen (sound down!) serving up a feast of soccer too with a highly tasty 4-4 draw! The Bay Horse is in the heart of the village and has been for years a welcome staging post for many a hiker, mountain biker and even horse rider descending from Worsthorne Moor.
But the pub's menu isn't only about curry on a Wednesday.
There's all the usual inn fayre ranging from the cheapest main courses of lasagne and battered cod and chips at £6.95 to a hearty mixed grill at £13.95.
And a glance at the specials board gives you the choice of a more exotic option like venison and red wine pie or a whole spatchcock poussin.
And if you are able to grab a seat close to the log burning stove the atmosphere for a pleasant break in the midweek schedule is made complete.
Pass the mango chutney Mrs A!
The verdict
Great value if you want a break from cooking.
