Own brands vary in quality and value but Morrisons do seem to have achieved consistency.

Pinotage is the red grape that South Africa has made its own and, while some of the wines produced with it are nowhere near the Premier League, this example is promotion material.

It's soft and the berry flavours are complemented by vanilla and a smoky taste that is relaxing. The price is right too.

Morrisons The Best South African Pinotage 2005, £6.99, Morrison's.
