Another example of how the Aussies are trying to catch up with their Kiwi cousins by getting into the dry white market.

Crisp and clean, this Sauvignon Blanc has lemon and grapefruit flavours, a screw top and a sensible alcohol level of 11.5 per cent.

The well-known brand's other big advantage is that it is a pound or so cheaper than most New Zealand rivals.

McGuigan Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2007, £5.99, Co-op.
