Grant Burge know their Shiraz and this is the cheapest of three different wines made with the grape by them in South Australia's Barossa Valley region currently available in the UK.
As the name suggests they see it as their benchmark red and like the Chardonnay above it is 14.5% alcohol but you get lovely plum and cherry flavours to sip and savour.
Benchmark Shiraz 2006, £6.49. From D Byrne and Co, Clitheroe
