A SHIRLEY Valentine-style comedy-drama will be coming to Darwen Library Theatre on Wednesday.

Sex and Chocolate is the title of a one-woman production by the MsFits Theatre Company and stars Fiona Knowles as a woman who undergoes a midlife crisis with comic results.

“I suppose you’d call it a comedy thriller,” said Fiona, who has been bringing shows to Darwen for the last eight years.

“It’s about a woman approaching her 50th birthday whose life is going nowhere. She decides to just take off and the whole thing becomes an adventure involving stolen diamonds, a mobster and a packet of Maltesers.

“The show has had a really good reception,” said Fiona. “It keeps the audience guessing and there are plenty of laughs along the way.

“I think everyone can identify with a birthday looming which gets you wondering about your life.”

Fiona is particularly pleased to be returning to Darwen.

“We have built up a really good audience over the years and we do see familiar faces coming back for our shows.

“It is a lovely theatre with a great atmosphere.”
