ASK actor Roger Llewellyn about playing Sherlock Holmes and you get a disarmingly honest answer.

“Let’s face it he’s a pretty unsympathetic character,” said Roger.

“He really is a complete know-all.”

Roger will be returning to Darwen Library Theatre tonight with a new one-man show The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes.

His previous show Sherlock Holmes, The Last Act, has played to full houses all over the country.

“This show lifts the lid on Holmes and shows another side to the character,” said Roger.

“It looks at what happens when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle decides to kill of his creation, but the character doesn’t want to go.

"I honestly don’t understand the worldwide obsession with Sherlock Holmes,” he said.

“What I do understand is an actor’s delight in this character.” l The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes is at Darwen Library Theatre tonight. Box office: 01254 706006
