BLACKBURN'S midfield maestro Tugay has expressed his delight at signing a new one-year deal that will keep him at Ewood Park for another season.

The 37-year-old Turkish star, who will be the oldest outfield player in the Premier League next season, signed an appearance-related deal last night, which also includes a coaching brief, despite interest from other clubs.

Tugay, who made 27 appearances for Mark Hughes' side last term, scoring two goals, has always expressed his desire to stay at Ewood and the veteran star was a happy man to finally have his future sorted out.

Speaking exclusively to the Lancashire Telegraph, he said: "I hope to help the first team as much as possible next season and I still believe I have plenty to offer at Premier League level.

"Football has given me so much in my life and I would like to help the young players at Blackburn to build their careers and break into the first team squad.

"I have always said that I love this football club and I have a special relationship with the fans.

"I have had seven great years here and, hopefully, there's more great times to come."

Tugay's agent, Simon Munir, added: "Tugay had offers from other clubs but as he has always said his heart is very much with Blackburn Rovers, so once they made him an offer, he was delighted to accept it."

Fantastic news, Tugay is a Legend and I'd have him stay at Ewood in any capacity. I honestly thought it was 'goodbye' after the Derby game and I'm looking forward to seeing the Maestro next season already!

Tugay you are a Turkish Delight. Fantastic news he has signed up for another season with the Rovers and more importantly he is on his way to becoming a coach. He should be the next Rovers Manager. Any one know where the Justin Hoyte story came from that was mentioned on here yesterday? I've looked around to find it but there's no mention anywhere. Wishful thinking? By the way I reckon Ghaly's agent has just made him throw in Rovers name as a way of getting attention to boost his options. Doubt Hughes would sign that shower of sh*te.

mark Hughes was in Moscow this evening - I think he was scouting Drogba and Ronaldo. Come on ROvers board - give Sparky the funds he needs.

Blackburn is a mid sized, multi- cultural, former industrial town. You are far more likely to find a call centre, bar, warehouse, mosque, office or appartment block than a farm there.

I drive around places like Beswick, Openshaw and Clayton where your club is based - total slums full of insular little estates where interbreeding is rife. Have a look at yourself before you start with the name calling.

Tugay>

You are an absolute legend and I would like to thank you for the love you have for the greatest club in the world and your hard work and commitment to us. I would love to see you work in a coaching and management capacity once your playing career is over and your contribution to the club is invaluable.

Yours thankfully,

Ben

Even i have to admit that this extension is a little strange,we certainly will not get a full season from him i just hope his paymants reflect this and i am not sure he will be doing any coaching either..
