PLANS to convert a former Baptist church into a new community centre in Weir are set to get the go ahead from Rossendale Council.
The application to create a split-level community centre on land off Burnley Road will be discussed at the council's development control committee meeting on Tuesday, January 9.
Planning officers have recommended the plans be approved, despite a number of objections from residents about noise nuisance and lack of off-street parking.
Also on the agenda are plans to build a five-storey block of 12 apartments next to the Kingfisher Centre, Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, which is recommended for refusal on grounds of housing over supply and loss of employment land.
An application to build 13 houses on Rochdale Road, Britannia, is also set to be turned down on grounds of housing over supply.
Other items to be discussed include building 19 houses and an apartment block in North Street, Whitworth, and the addition of eight chalets to the equestrian centre at Croft Top Farm, Rising Bridge.
The meeting will be held at Hardman's Mill, New Hall Hey, Rawtenstall, beginning at 6.30pm.
