Chorley's All Seasons Leisure Centre and Clayton Green Sports Centre achieved the prestigious QUEST award, placing them among some of the finest sports facilities in the country.
Each centre, owned by Chorley Council and managed by CLS Chorley, underwent an intensive two-day assessment and mystery shopper exercises conducted from the customer’s perspective.
The results showed that the leisure centres are continually improving and offering customers exactly what they want.
Councillor John Walker, Chorley Council's executive member (People), who oversees leisure in the borough as part of his portlfolio, said: "Local people have told us they want quality leisure facilities that are affordable and fit for purpose - and that's why our specialist partnership with Community Leisure Services (CLS) was set up.
"Together we're able to offer some of the finest municipal facilities found anywhere in the UK and a really competitively priced alternative to private membership clubs.
"In the past two years the Council has invested more than £1million upgrading and updating All Seasons and Clayton Green centres and these awards simply reflect the high quality now in place. I'm delighted."
Over the past 12 months the borough’s municipal leisure facilities have seen a dramatic makeover.
All Seasons Leisure Centre benefited from £1.2 million upgrade, while Brinscall Swimming Pool received over £100,000 of investment to modernise it’s facilities.
Clayton Green Sports Centre is also about to undergo a major improvement programme, which will include new changing rooms.
Earlier this year both leisure centres also received Charter Mark and Investor in People status showing the Council’s commitment to customer service.
Christian Duff, Contract Manager for CLS Chorley said: “Over the past months CLS Chorley have achieved the treble, with an increased quest accreditation and full contract accreditation for both Charter Mark and Investor In People.
“These accreditations are a great achievement and offer recognition to the front line staff that continue to work tirelessly to provide the best possible experience to each customer on every visit.
"We have found that consistency is the key, each individual assessor has made comments about the commitment demonstrated by the team on the whole to enhance the communication with our users.
“We are extremely proud that Chorley Leisure facilities have once again achieved these prestigious national awards.
"It is a demonstration of the ever improving standards that staff at the centres have driven forward, and a testimony to the success of the partnership between Chorley Council and Community Leisure Services.”
Customers will continue to see ongoing improvements and if you are interested in joining one of the leisure centres contact All Seasons on 01257 515000 or Clayton Green on 01257 515050.
