THE borough’s primary care trust has officially changed its name to NHS Blackburn with Darwen.
The organisaton was known as Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust, but the change is set to come in across all PCTs in the UK as part of Lord Darzi’s next-stage review of the NHS.
The new name is designed to reflect the fact that trusts now buy in large parts of their services from private and voluntary providers, rather than employing carers themselves.
A spokesman for NHS Blackburn with Darwen said: “We are referring to ourselves with the new name in any literature we now publish, but signs, stationery and anything holding the trust’s logo will be replaced only as these items run out or need to be replaced.”
