A WOMAN who claimed she was raped at a train station is refusing to co-operate with officers, police said.
Detectives investigating the alleged incident at Burnley’s Manchester Road station over the weekend said that the woman who made the complaint, a 40-year-old from Accrington, will not be interviewed.
But despite the woman’s reluctance to speak to officers, the British Transport Police is still investigating the incident.
CCTV has been reviewed and two witnesses have been spoken to but so far police said there are no leads.
A spokesman said: “I would like to renew a witness appeal because the situation remains the same.
“We are still investigating an allegation of rape but the woman involved is not willing to be interviewed.”
He said the woman had spent Saturday in Blackpool but had missed her stop in Accrington before getting off at the Manchester Road station to turn around.
"It is then that the attack is alleged to have taken place.
The station was sealed off by police for almost 24 hours after the incident was reported late on Sunday afternoon.
The alleged victim told police she was molested on the York-bound platform on Saturday night.
Investigators from British Transport Police shutdown the platform while forensic officers carried out a search for evidence.
