THE administrators of a brewery chain that owns pubs in East Lancashire said companies were interested in buying the firm.
Liverpool-based Cains Beer Company runs more than 100 pubs nationwide, including The Last Orders in Blackburn, The Bee’s Knees in Accrington, The Last Orders in Nelson, The Brown Cow in Clitheroe and The Printers in Oswaldtwistle.
Glasgow-based Marketing Management Services International is one of the interested parties, a spoke-swoman for administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers confirmed. She said: “We have had expressions of interest from a lot of people.
“We are in the process of going through those.”
Earlier this month, the brewer and pub owner was taken into administration after Sudarghara Dusanj, who was chief executive and took over Cains Beer Company six years ago with his brother Ajmail, said a drop in pub sales of 15-20 per cent since last year and the credit crunch had helped to “cripple the business”.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has closed 24 pubs but about 90 are still operating.
