EAST Lancashire fell silent today to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One.
In Blackburn, the Mayor, Coun Mohammed Khan and Graham Burgess, chief executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, joined staff on the steps of the town hall to observe the two minutes silence.
The Mayor then held a lunch with war veterans in the Mayor’s Parlour.
In Barnoldswick, a rocket was launched from the town hall to mark the beginning of the two minutes’ silence, and another rocket marked the end.
