MORE than 80 pub quiz contestants have taken part in an attempt to set a new world record.
The landlord and landlady at the Jester Inn, Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, hosted a pub quiz on Monday with the hope of raising money for charity and creating the new record.
If the attempt is successful, the event will be listed by the Guinness World Records as the record for the most contestants in a pub quiz.
Landlord Andrew Eccles said: “It will be another three weeks before we find out whether Guinness will agree if it can be a new category of world record.
“But if it can, then we should definitely win it.”
Seventeen teams took part and around £200 was raised on the day.
Earlier quizzes at the public house boosted the funds to £650.
All the money raised will be donated to the Rossendale Hospice.
The winning team was Racing Dream from Burnley, who received a £100 prize.
