STEVEN Reid has snubbed Tottenham Hotspur and agreed a deal to stay at Blackburn Rovers.
The Republic of Ireland international, who was the subject of a £2 million bid by Spurs last week, has committed his long-term future to Blackburn by accepting a new four year contract.
Reid had initially stalled on a new deal after speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham began to surface in the national press.
However, after taking time out to mull over his options and speak with his family, the popular 25-year-old has settled all doubts surrounding his future following a meeting between his agent, Kevin Moran, and Rovers' chairman, John Williams, this morning.
"We are delighted that Steven has pledged his future to Rovers," said Williams.
"He made a major impact last term and it is very good news indeed that he is happy to sign a new deal.
"I am sure it will be warmly welcomed by all Rovers fans."
Rovers were always confident they could keep hold of a player who made huge strides under Mark Hughes last season and Reid's decision to snub a better financial package elsewhere is exactly the news Hughes was hoping for.
Reid is currently away on holiday but he's expected to formally sign his new contract once he returns in a fortnight's time.
